american community, with the lgbq community, with the human rights commission in san francisco, all kinds of people, and we talk about all kinds of things. we talk about things that are more common to the u.s. attorney. we talk about fraud and identify theft and hate crimes and civil rights issue and there's one thing that comes up in absolutely every conversation that i have had with people in the district, and that was bullying. and it really, it was, it's not surprising to the people in this room, i know. it was not surprising to me but it was troubling to me that in every community that i was meeting with, this was an issue prrp violence, harassment, physical, cyber, social, children on children, this kind of behavior is so disturbing and so troubling and so heartbreaking to so many people. even in this place, even in san francisco, california and northern california, which has got to be if not the most tolerant place in the country certainly amuck the most tolerance and diverse places in the community, this is what i was hearing out in the community and it's something we wanted t

will arrive. >> tracking the rainfall with cbs 5 high def doppler radar. and it is pouring in san francisco. how about that. this is ahead of the next big wave. this is bonus rainfall if you will, though i doubt many people call it bonus. san francisco out by the airport, north across the golden gate to mill valley, over to richland, down to oakland, we're looking at heavy rainfall and light to moderate rain as well. and san jose and cupertino getting rain. and widespread rainfall totallies of 1 to 2 inches. that's why we have a flash flood watch for the north bay, the coast and the mountains and a flood warning for the napa river and the russian river and it's going to be windy as well. wind advisory for the coast and mountains for wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour. this happens round number 3. we'll talk about what happens once this moves out. that's coming up in the full forecast in a few minutes. >>> two rivers to the north are being watched closely tonight. the napa and russian rivers are both under a flood warning. they're expected to rise above flood stage tomorrow on the napa and t

outside where we have been dealing rain out there. here is the live camera looking toward san francisco. a few breaks in the clouds but those rain source moving through rapidly across the bay area. still the case right now. here we go with the maps showing you the live sweeps. you can seat enhancement in parts of the north bay. rainfall picking up south of nevado, those darker shades of green. even the yellows indicate the increase in rainfall rates. we will shift the maps, slow you more activity around the bay, not as much here but down toward pillar point for half moon bay and around the fremont area and parts of the east bay. this activity knocking on the doorsteps of livermore. wet pave helicopter on interstate 580. most of the activity in the south bay with the rainfall rates picking up for this part of the bay area. out toward saratoga. you can see the rainfall rate over an inch an hour. that's the estimate with the radar and the closer inspection toward saratoga. around campbell. around loss g atos. that's heavy rain out toward 17 as you can pick out here and we will continue to

of time. in fact, yesterday alone, lots of places including san francisco, santa rosa, even oakland set record rainfall amounts for yesterday alone. now, more rain is already on our doorstep. we are still under flash flood watches and warnings. not only up against the coast but it does include san francisco, it includes napa and it also does include santa rosa. some of our hardest hit locations with a particular series of storms. you will notice more rain already starting to approach the coast, and this is just an appetizer of what's to come. we've looked at plenty of rain over the past four days. santa rosa, one of our top cities picked up over 5 1/2 inches of rain. san francisco, not too far behind. 2 1/2, to get down to the south bay, gilroy, 2 1/2 in san francisco topping out right at -- san jose, rather, at 1 1/2 now. we are watching more rain with this next system as you menged, diane. it's going to be very powerful. flash flood watches do mean that flash flooding is likely tomorrow. we're going to be telling you how much rain is going to fall. another thing that's very important,

>> good morning and merry christmas to you. here is a look live at san francisco from our roof and wishing you a merry christmas on kron 4. we're also covering the weather and traffic this morning for you. at% to say there's no traffic but we do have weather. hi, annie. >> hi, darya. the radar return returns are generally off on the coast and also to parts of santa rosa this morning. the north bay looking at light rain impacting your christmas morning as you're opening presents. here's a look at your future cast 4. by 9:00 most of us in the bay area should be under cloudy conditions. the rain moves in to san rafael, that's moderate to heavy rainfall coming in around noon time. late this afternoon, widespread in the east bay. san jose, you'll probably get it later this afternoon and later this evening. by 4:00, it's widespread. i'm concerned about the potential for thunderstorms, downed power lines. these are all possible today because the storms could produce gusty conditions and we know the soil is already quite saturated from what we saw over the weekend with those storms.

at the san francisco department of public works says the road floods because the drains cannot handle all of the water, especially during a powerful storm. drivers are being forced to take the lower great highway route. the northbound side is still open. officials say the highway closes about 60 times a year, its not known when the southbound side will re-open. >> the storm also brought down a massive tree in the east bay. this one fell right on the footsteps of the delta chi fraternity house on channing way in berkeley. the 90-footer took out some communications cables on its' way down. but other than that the damage was minimal. however when the tree fell it loosened the soil of a neighboring tree.that had to be removed for safety reasons. >> in the sierra. it was another snowy day with drivers facing chain restrictions and slick roads through the higher elevations. this is video from placer county. where last night caltrans had to shut down interstate 80 several times. because of the dangerous driving conditions. kron 4's charles clifford has an update on how things are looking now. >>

valley fog but look at that. isn't that a gorgeous shot? you can see the embarcadero in san francisco. so it is a little cool outside even though we have a nice dry break coming throughout the day today. once again no need for any umbrellas. but a jacket probably a good idea. 41 right now in concord, 45 in oakland, 48 degrees in san francisco. so it's because of this high pressure that is what's keeping us so dry for the next 24 hours or so. but we are watching this low and that's going to bring us some rain. looks like probably friday afternoon-ish is when we're probably going to get hit with some wet weather. in the meantime this afternoon's highs a lot of low to mid-50s across the bay area. and yeah, so not going to warm up much by later on this afternoon and then a chance of rain returns as soon as tomorrow. so we'll show you that seven- day forecast coming up. in the meantime, traffic-wise, we have a new situation developing on the great highway. we just got word from the police department that the southbound great highway is shut down between lincoln way and sloat boulevard. with al
